For Focus16, the world’s foremost cybersecurity conference, the challenges were many…yet, the rewards huge. For McAfee by Intel and Executive Visions…success is nothing new. Having produced nine Focus Conferences together, this crucially important customer marketing initiative is a prime expression of partnership, accomplishment and continually raising the bar.
This year, the objectives were bold and wide-ranging: Create a compelling live event experience for 3,500 of the world’s top information technology executives. Clearly position the company direction in the midst of a new ownership structure. Demonstrate the tangible benefits and drive sales of the McAfee brand’s uniquely integrated product suite. Create an environment of learning, collaboration and idea exchange. Plus…launch an entirely new brand name and marketing identity campaign.
Consider the stage itself…stretching 210 feet across and wrapping the audience into an immersive theatrical environment. Designed with a combination of HD LED panels and projection surfaces, the set arced and curved forming a dramatic flow of visual surround. The 16’ x 80’ primary presentation wall framed the speakers, standing as a sweeping curve of glorious 3.9mm LED luminance and resolution. Image mag screens extended left and right, personalizing the view. From there, curved and elongated surround screens wrapped the audience, bordered top and bottom by dramatic LED trim screens. These outer surfaces displayed a combination of keynote support, real time “tweets” and pure visual art. All in all, the set contained 3,278 square feet of media canvas, boasting 13.2 million pixels.
The screen matrix was controlled by Watchout and D3 media servers, fed by a range of inputs including video, motion graphics, Powerpoint presentations, live software demos, photo jpeg content, live camera feeds and social media.
Lighting and sound were designed and implemented by EVI’s elite concert touring team, providing an audience experience unmatched in the industry.
An army of designers, writers, artists, producers and technical directors from multiple agencies collaborated under EVI’s direction to create a stunning collection of keynotes, short films and motion media art. The orchestration and producing of these multifaceted components into a cohesive whole is an intensive challenge made to look easy by the deep and seasoned EVI team.
Onstage keynote presentations featured all of the company’s top executives led by CEO of the new McAfee brand, Chris Young. Strategic information was complemented by a mix of engaging guest appearances including noted actor and Silicon Valley tech investor Ashton Kutcher, journalist Ted Koppel of ABC News “Nightline” fame, and the author/comedian/spoken word poet Rives. A final night concert on the main stage featured multi-platinum selling artists The Goo Goo Dolls.
Although it is the feature act, the main stage is only one aspect of EVI’s production of Focus. A festival-like calendar of activities include two additional executive general sessions, over a hundred track sessions and an extensive partner technological showcase, each requiring its own production team. The technology trade show presents an opportunity for an array of McAfee by Intel industry partners to show their products and boost sales.
On a conference the magnitude of Focus, all aspects of EVI’s creative, technical and project management capabilities are brought to bear. And, the successful completion of the ninth consecutive conference exemplifies EVI’s approach to long-term, strategic relationships with its client partners.
